Who is this person?

Shay David is a scholar and serial entrepreneur who specializes in collaborative and open-source information and communication systems. Shay is the co-founder of Kaltura, ( http://www.kaltura.com ) a pioneer in collaborative media, where he oversees technology and strategy. Prior to Kaltura, Shay was a co-founder of Destinator Technologies, a leader in mobile-GPS-navigation software, and MindEcho, a collaborative filtering software company. Shay was involved for many years in cutting edge software research, combining open source and proprietary software, leading product development from concept to market, and consulting on open systems to Fortune 500 companies like Toyota and Becton Dickson. Shay holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Philosophy, Magna Cum Laude, from Tel-Aviv University, and an M.A. from New York University where his interdisciplinary research thesis focused on the political economy of free and open source software and file sharing networks. Shay wrote his PhD dissertation on ‘open systems and democratic culture’ at Cornell and he is also a fellow at The Information Society Project at the Yale Law School where he works on issues of peer-production and access to knowledge. Shay has published extensively in leading academic journals, and has presented his work all over the world. He lives in New York City, where his wife Ofri is working on several large-scale video art projects.
